Chhattisgarh Assembly Election: first phase ends with lower voter turnout

The voter turnout for the first phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly Election has declined sharply. In 2013, voter turnout in the 18 constituencies was 75.53%. 

 

Raipur| The first phase of polling for Chhattisgarh Assembly elections ended today amidst low voter turnout. According to the reports, 56.58% voter turnout was recorded till 4.30 pm today.

Polling was held for 18 naxal-affected constituencies in the first phase. These constituencies included Bastar and regions around Rajnandgaon.

As per the updates, 61.47% voter turnout was registered in Kondagaon followed by Keshkal where voter turnout was 63.51%. Kanker recorrded 62% voter turnout while Bastar recorded low turnout of 58% . The lowest turnout was recorded in Dantewada at 49%. Khairagarh, Dongargarh and Khujji recorded voter turnout of 60.5%, 64% and 65.5% respectively.


Incidentally, the voter turnout for the first phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly Election has declined sharply. In 2013, voter turnout in the 18 constituencies was 75.53%.

The second phase of assembly election will be held on November 20. The results will be announced on December 11.
