Bhopal | Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday after submitting his resignation as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh said that he is ready to accept the role of ‘Chowkidar’ in Madhya Pradesh.
Addressing a press conference after submitting his resignation to Governor Anandiben Patel, Chouhan said,” We worked 15 years for the development of Farmers and poors in Madhya Pradesh. I have tendered my resignation to the honourable Governor. The responsibility of defeat is totally mine.” Speaking on BJP’s role of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh assembly, Chouhan said,” The opposition is strong in Madhya Pradesh, We have 109 MLAs.”
After governing Madhya Pradesh for 15 years, the Bharatiya Janta Party managed to get only 109 seats in the 230 seats Madhya Pradesh Assembly. Meanwhile, the delegation of the Congress party meet the Madhya Pradesh Governor at 12 pm and staked claim to form the government after the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party extended there support to the Congress.
Congress emerged as the single largest party with 114 seats falling short of the majority mark with 2 seats in the 230 seat Madhya Pradesh Assembly. The support comes crucial for the Congress party as it got 114 seats falling short with just 2 seats in the 230 seat Madhya Pradesh Assembly. BSP who contested independently succeeded in winning 2 seats in Madhya Pradesh Assembly election. Earlier the Samajwadi party also extended it support to the Congress party in Madhya Pradesh. The Samajwadi party has won 1 seat in the assembly election.
