Shots Fired At Owaisi’s Car Near Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday claimed that shots have been fired on his car near Ghaziabad. He was shot on his way to Delhi after an election-related event in Kithaur, Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. 

Speaking with ANI the Hyderabad MP said that two people near Chhajarsi toll plaza fired three or four rounds of bullets at his vehicle, puncturing the tyres.

According to ADG Prashant Kumar, Hapur Police is investigating the matter and scanning CCTVs of nearby areas. Police is also recording statement of eyewitnesses. Investigation is on.

Owaisi took to twitter to share the news. He tweeted, “Some time ago my car was fired at Chhijarsi toll gate. 4 rounds fired. There were 3-4 people, all of them ran away and left the weapons there. My car got punctured, but I got out in another car and left. We are all safe.”

Reacting to the incident his brother and Telangana assembly MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi tweeted, “In Dasna, a life-threatening attack on Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi Sahab fired several rounds. But with god’s grace he is fine.”

Visuals shared by Owaisi showed two bullet holes on his white SUV, which remains at the spot. The third bullet allegedly hit a tyre. The MP left the area in another car.

The AIMIM leader was there to address a public meeting in Meerut while campaigning for the Uttar Pradesh elections which are starting from February 10.

Western Uttar Pradesh will vote on the opening day of the seven-phase election in India’s most politically vital and populous state.
