Watch: NCP Leader’s Appeal To Chant All Religion Mantras Outside PM House

Mumbai: If “inflation, unemployment, and starvation” are reduced, a Mumbai-based Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader intends to “chant prayers of every religion” in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s house.

Fahmida Hasan Khan, a colleague of NCP chairman Sharad Pawar, has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting permission to read the namaz, hanuman chalisa, Jainism prayers navkar mantra, Guru Granth Sahib recitations, and Christian prayers novena in front of Modi’s residence.

Khan’s petition comes after an independent MP and MLA pair were arrested in Mumbai on Saturday after calling for Shiv Sainiks to perform the Hanuman Chalisa outside Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s private home ‘Matoshree.’

Khan’s NCP is a supporter of Thackeray’s ruling coalition.

According to media reports, the Amravati Ranas manage the Yuva Swabhiman Party, which is led by yoga guru Ramdev.

The pair, who are being held in separate Maharashtra jails after being charged with sedition, were remanded to seven days in custody on Sunday.

They’ve also been charged under the Indian Penal Code’s Sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on the basis of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintaining harmony) and 34 (common intention), as well as the Bombay Police Act’s sections 37(1) and 135 (promoting enmity between different groups on the basis of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial.

After Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray handed the government an ultimatum to remove loudspeakers from all mosques by May 3, a boiling controversy over religious singing continued in the state.

The decision has been made. To address the loudspeaker issue, Maha Vikas Agadhi has convened an all-party meeting on Monday.
