“Money Kept In My House Without My Knowledge”, Says Arpita Mukherjee

Arpita Mukherjee claims that the money recovered by ED from her residence was in her absence and it doesn’t belong to her.

Mumbai: On Tuesday, Arpita Mukherjee who is linked to the SSC scam along with TMC’s Partha Chatterjee said that the money found from her residence was kept there in her absence. In the recruitment case, the ED has recovered around Rs. 50 Crores in cash and along with jewellry from her two flats in Kolkata.

“The money does not belong to me, it was kept there in my absence without my knowledge”, Arpita Mukherjee told the reporters.

Former West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee and Arpita Mukherjee were sent to ED custody till August 3.

Earlier, Chatterjee, who was relieved of his ministerial duties, claimed he was a “victim of a conspiracy” and expressed his dismay at Trinamool’s decision to suspend him. Both Mr. Chatterjee and Ms. Mukherjee claimed that the money recovered was not theirs.
Tomorrow they will appear before a PMLA court, with their 10-day custody under ED coming to an end.

However, the leader of  the opposition Suvendu Adhikari said that the whole scam involves TMC leader Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
