Ukraine: Indian Embassy Temporarily Relocated To Poland Amid Attacks In Western Part Of Ukraine

Kyiv: The Indian Embassy in Ukraine has been temporarily relocated to Poland. This relocation comes amid the worsening security situation in Ukraine and amid the facing Russian invasion, said New Delhi today.

The government said, “In view of the rapidly deteriorating security situation in Ukraine, including attacks in the western parts of the country, it has been decided that the Indian Embassy in Ukraine will be temporarily relocated in Poland.”

Further, the government added that the situation will be reassessed in the light of further development.

This development comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting reviewing the security preparedness of India, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

In the meet PM, Modi was briefed about the latest developments in Ukraine, the government said in a statement. It also showed the latest developments and different aspects of India’s security preparedness in the border areas as well as in the maritime and air domain.

Speaking of Naveen Shekharappa, the Indian who died amid the Russian Invasion, PM Modi directed that all possible efforts should be made to bring back his body.

Prime Minister also reiterated that every effort must be made to make India self-reliant in the defense sector, sources said.

PM Modi was briefed about the developments of ‘Operation Ganga’ as well.

On February 24 Russia started invading Ukraine. The Defence Ministry of Russia said that special operation is targeting Ukrainian military infrastructure only and the civilian population is not in danger. Moscow has repeatedly stressed that it has no plans to occupy Ukraine.

Ukraine says more than 1,500 civilians have died in a nearly two-week siege, which has left the city without water or heat and running out of food, reported news agency AFP.
