3 found dead in Andhra’s Shiva temple; human sacrifice and black magic suspected

Anantapur | Three people including the temple priest were found dead in a case of alleged human sacrifice and black magic in the temple premises in Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh.

The three people – Shivarami Reddy who was looking after the temple, his sister Kamalamma, and another woman from the same village, Sathyalakshmi – were found with their throats slit in the under construction temple.

The blood was also seen splattered over the idol of the Shivaling and adjacent anthills.

Of the three victims, two were found lying on a cot, and on the ground, in a pool of blood. A  devotee who came to the temple in the morning found the dead bodies and informed the police.

An inspector of the area has said that speculations are the killings were arranged in a way to make it look like they were due to religious offerings.

“We suspect that someone deliberately tried to influence the investigation by doing some suspicious things after the murders,” Kadiri Rural Circle Inspector Madhu told TheNewsMinute.

Anantapur SP Satya Yesubabu has told reporters that this could be the work of “treasure hunters” and more than 2 people may have been involved.
