SC judge lashes out, says lawyers On TV Debates “Killing This Institution”

Justice Arun Mishra, who suffered collateral damage in two recent controversies concerning the Supreme Court, on Wednesday lashed out at advocates who, he said, were targeting apex court judges within the court as well as on TV debates, thereby “killing the institution”.

“Who is spared in this court? Every Judge is targeted. By one arrow you want to kill all. You people are destroying this institution. If this institution is destroyed, then you people won’t survive”, the court said on Wednesday.

Justice Mishra made the comments after advocates appearing in the matter started arguing in a loud manner in the court. Notably, Justice Mishra also expressed his displeasure that the Supreme Court Bar Association had remained silent on the matter.

Meanwhile, upset over the matter, Justice Mishra refused to entertain a clarification application moved in the court on the medical admission matter.

Significantly, Justice Mishra was caught in the eye of the storm a few months ago, after four senior judges of the Supreme Court held an unprecedented conference in January criticising the functioning of the apex court.
