Marching for the Mahatma: Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi undertake ‘Padyatra’

New Delhi| On Wednesday, on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Congress took out a padyatra across the country. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi also joined it. The party workers led by him reached Rajghat from the party headquarters giving the message of Gandhi. On the other hand, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi also took to the streets of Lucknow in support of the victims of Unnao and Shahjahanpur sexual abuse case. She said that Congress will continue to raise its voice in favour of women.

Meanwhile, Union Minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh took a dig at the Congress walk. He tweeted, “On Gandhiji’s birth anniversary, Congress is travelling to the post. Instead of Rajghat from the Congress office, circumambulate Congress President Rahul Gandhi, his march will be completed.

Priyanka Gandhi undertook a march with activists from the Shaheed Memorial in Lucknow to the Gandhi statue at Hazratangaj. He said, “injustice and atrocities are being done to women in the state. I went to meet the Unnao rape victim’s house. There the girl’s mother and family are kept locked in the house. We have not been allowed by the administration to speak, but the struggle of the Congress will continue.
The Congress on Monday announced to take out a march from Shahjahanpur to Lucknow in support of the victim student in the Chinmayanand case. Police arrested 350 Congressmen, including former Union Minister Jitin Prasad. Targeting the Yogi government, Congress said, “The voice of justice cannot be suppressed.” Congress has always raised the voice of the right, now we will protest silently.
