New Delhi | Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appointed Samant Goel as the next chief of India’s spy agency, Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) and Arvind Kumar as the Director, Intelligence Bureau.
Both have served in the Indian Police Service and come from the same batch of 1984 with Goel belonging to Punjab cadre and Kumar, to Assam-Meghalaya cadre.
Samant Goel was heading operations for the external intelligence agency and was instrumental in the planning of action in Balakot Air Strikes, and the 2016 surgical strikes of Uri in 2016.
He is also an expert on Pakistan.
Whereas Arvind Kumar holds the position of special director of Kashmir in the IB.
