Rear Admiral Puneet Kumar Bahl, VSM is Flag Officer commanding Maharashtra Naval Area

Rear Admiral Puneet Kumar Bahl took over the duties of Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area from Rear Admiral Sanjay Mahindru today, 12th February 18, at an impressive military ceremony held at the parade ground of INS Kunjali.

Rear Admiral Bahl is an alumnus of NDA Khadakwasla, the Defence Services Staff College Wellington and the College of Naval Warfare, Mumbai. An experienced MR pilot, he has flown six different types of aircraft. His operational experience includes active participation in flying operations in Op Tasha and Op Vijay. He is also a qualified ship’s diver.

Prior to his current assignment, he was the Flag Officer Commanding Goa Naval Area and Flag Officer Naval Aviation. His notable commands include the naval air station INS Rajali, the frigate INS Betwa and the offshore patrol vessel INS Sujata.

He was also based at the Embassy of India at Tokyo from 2007-10 as the Defence Attaché in Japan with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Korea. The Flag Officer was awarded the Vishist Seva Medal in 2015.
