Bhopal | Adding to the controversial statements against cries faced by women, Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police VK Singh has claimed that women are indirectly responsible for their own kidnapping.
In the wake of increasing kidnapping and rape cases in the state, the DGP was questioned on the causes.
“There’s a new trend which can be seen in the form of IPC 363. It is a fact that girls have become more independent nowadays. Most of these kidnapping cases have been reported when girls leave their houses”, he said, in Hindi.

Recently, an eight year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in the state last month in June.
The girl had gone out of her home around 8 PM to purchase a grocery. When she did not return, the family informed and filed a complaint with the police.
Police said her body was found near a drain close to her house in the wee hours of Sunday at Kamla Nagar in Bhopal.
