AAP Confirms Assault On MP Swati Maliwal By Delhi CM’s PA

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) confirmed on Tuesday that their Rajya Sabha MP, Swati Maliwal, was indeed assaulted by the Personal Secretary of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The party stated that Arvind Kejriwal would take strong action against his Personal Secretary, Bibhav Kumar.

The incident occurred on Monday morning at the Chief Minister’s residence and became public knowledge after Maliwal reported it to the Civil Lines police station. She also called the police emergency line (PCR) following the assault.

In his first public statement regarding the matter, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh acknowledged the incident and confirmed that the Chief Minister has taken notice of it and will enforce severe measures.

Sanjay Singh stated during a press briefing. “Yesterday, Maliwal visited Arvind Kejriwal at his home. While she was waiting in the drawing room to meet him, Bibhav Kumar behaved inappropriately towards her. This behaviour is deeply condemned. Kejriwal has acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and will ensure strong action is taken,”¬†

Singh also denounced the incident as “condemnable.”

he¬†added. “Swati Maliwal has made substantial contributions to the nation and society. She is one of our party’s most experienced and respected leaders. We fully support her,”¬†

On Monday, the police received a PCR call at 9:34 am from a woman reporting an assault at the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence. “Later, the MP arrived at the police station. However, she left, stating she would file a complaint later,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) M K Meena informed reporters.

Notably, the police have not yet received a formal complaint from Maliwal regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, the BJP has called for an investigation into the matter, asserting that any woman experiencing such an incident deserves justice.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) also denounced the assault on Swati Maliwal, announcing plans to dispatch an inquiry team to investigate the matter.
