New Delhi| Department of Personnel and Training has issued an order today according to which all governemnt employees must download “Aarogya setu” app and attend the work only if they receive a go-ahead from the app. The order applies to all staff members, including outsources staff, working with the Central government. The governemnt has made it compulsory for all autonomous and statutory bodies and Public Sector Units to follow this rule.

“Before starting for work, the employees must review their status and commute only when the app shows ‘safe’ or ‘low risk’ status,” the order titled “Effective use of ‘Aarogyasetu’ App for breaking the chain of transmission of COVID-19” said.

“In case the App shows a message that he/she has a “moderate” or “high risk” calculated on the basis of Bluetooth proximity (“recent contact with an infected person”), he /she should not come to office and self-isolate for 14 days or till the status becomes ‘safe’ or ‘low risk’,” the order further read.

The Aarogya Setu app developed by the government to fight Covid-19 traces the contact history of the individual with Covid-19 positive patients based on its Bluetooth range.

Advocating for its use in educational institutions, the government has pushed the app rigorously after it was launched.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had written to all school Principals recommending the use of this app launched by the government to fight the pandemic.
