CM Kejriwal, Sisodia’s Names Dropped From Melania Trump’s School Visit Event

As per the sources, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia were to welcome US First Lady Melania Trump at a school in the national capital.

New Delhi| The names of CM Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia dropped from the school event where Melania Trump is scheduled to visit. According to Delhi Government Sources, both were to attend the programme since the school comes under the Delhi Government.

US President Donald Trump, who is scheduled to visit India on February 24 and 25, might cut short his stay in Ahmedabad to accommodate for a likely Agra visit, news agency IANS reported on Thursday.

Quoting sources, it said Trump’s visit to Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati is most likely to be cancelled.

The AAP sources have called pressure tactics by Centre to take off the name of Delhi CM and Deputy CM from the program.

According to government sources, the Centre allegedly pressurised the embassy to take off Kejriwal, Sisodia’s names from the program.

On Tuesday, Melania is expected to attend a class on the happiness curriculum, one of the flagship programmes of the Delhi government in the education sector that aims to help children relieve stress, meditate and discuss things that are troubling them.

The curriculum was introduced by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the Delhi government schools two years ago as an attempt to lessen stress among school children. The curriculum involves 40 minutes of meditation, relaxing and even outdoor activities.

US President Donald Trump is set to visit India on February 24 and 25. The US first couple will first visit Gujarat’s Ahmedabad for ‘Namaste Trump’ event after which they will leave for Agra for a visit to Taj Mahal. After Agra, the Trumps will be travelling to Delhi for official reception and bilateral talks.

This is Donald Trump’s first state visit to India and also a first standalone visit by a US President to India.
