New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal eagerly waited for his turn on the last day for the filing of nominations for the Delhi election as a large number of independent candidates beat him to the election office. The Chief Minister of Delhi is missed in filing his papers on Monday, having been delayed by his roadshow. For filing nomination papers in Delhi elections, Tuesday is the last day.

Around 100 candidates showed up to file their nomination on the last day. It was almost down to the wire with a queue of at least 50 independent candidates are waiting to register at the Jamnagar House in Delhi.

“Waiting to file my nomination from New Delhi constituency. My token no is 45. There are several people here to file nomination papers. I am so glad so many people participating in democracy,” Kejriwal tweeted at 2. 36 pm; the deadline was 3 pm.

Officials said that Arvind Kejriwal need not worry. Any candidate who makes it inside the office before 3 pm will be allowed to file their nomination.

“Kejriwal is in the queue,” admitted AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj, pointing out that while there were “abandon of people” who are supposed to file their papers, most didn’t have proposers, which is a must.

“We will not let Arvind Kejriwal enter,” said one of the candidates, saying he would contest as an independent.

“Kejriwal will have no option but to stand in the queue like all of us,” said the aspiring candidate, claiming he had been betrayed by Delhi CM when they were part of Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption campaign.

Another person in the queue said he had brought 30 more with him and they would all file their nomination papers for elections.

Arvind Kejriwal is AAP’s candidate from New Delhi and also CM’s face who was delayed again as he arrived with his family to complete the formalities.

Yesterday, Kejriwal took out a mega-roadshow on his way to filing his papers.

“I was told I will have to file my nomination, but I said how can I leave my supporters at the roadshow and go? I will go to file the nomination tomorrow,” Kejriwal said to media on Monday. AAP party workers blamed BJP for the delay of Arvind Kejriwal nomination papers. The blame game has begun as Delhi CM was asked to wait for the process.

The Chief Minister began his roadshow from the iconic Valmiki Mandir and moved through the New Delhi Constituency surrounded by AAP supporters waving brooms.

On February 8 the Delhi election will be held and the results will be declared on February 11.
