Maharashtra Trust Voting: Congress Leaders Absent In Assembly

At the time of the voting, Ashok Chavan and Vijay Wadettiwar were unable to enter the house.

Mumbai: After the Eknath Shinde camp had already established a solid majority, two famous Maharashtra Congress MLAs — Ashok Chavan and Vijay Wadettiwar — entered the state legislature. The Nationalist Congress Party’s Sangram Jagtap and the junior Congress MLA Zeeshan Siddique, who were there yesterday for the speaker vote, did not show up today, fueling rumors. The two leaders were also late.

At the time of the voting, Vijay Wadettiwar and Ashok Chavan were unable to enter the house, as they were late.

By a 164-99 margin, the newly elected Eknath Shinde-led administration prevailed in the floor test, establishing its majority and solidifying Shinde’s position as the state’s Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader.

Aaditya Thackeray, the son of Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray, disqualified himself by voting against the party’s newly appointed chief whip, Bharat Gogawale.

The Shiv Sena was split, and the Uddhav Thackeray administration was overthrown as a result of two weeks of political shocks.
