Khadse said “People gave the mandate to BJP-ShivSena (Mahayuti). If we would have gone two steps backward then we could have formed the government,”
Mumbai: On Sunday State Congress president Balasaheb Thorat said that he would welcome BJP leader Eknath Khadse into the Congress. Thorat also appreciated the dissatisfied BJP leader for having worked hard to increase the saffron party’s footprint across Maharashtra. He expressed his disappointment over Mr. Khadse’s neglect in the party.
Thorat speaking to the media, said, “It is unfortunate that Khadse was not treated properly in the BJP. He worked hard and kept the patience to reach a senior-most position in the BJP. He contributed a lot to increase the footprint of the party.”
The unhappy BJP leader last week, met Pankaja Munde, who is also said to be dissatisfied with the party for sidelining her after her defeat in the state elections. However, she dismissed reports of her quitting the BJP and reiterated that she is a loyal party worker.
On Wednesday, after meeting Pankaja Munde, Mr. Khadse had said, “We both are in the opinion that some BJP leaders tried to defeat her and Rohini (Mr. Khadse’s daughter). I have informed the Maharashtra BJP unit chief Chandrakant Patil about it.”
Khadse said “People gave the mandate to BJP-ShivSena (Mahayuti). If we would have gone two steps backward then we could have formed the government,”. He also said, taunting former CM Devendra Fadnavis over his statement that he would return as the CM of Maharashtra. “If leaders claim credit for winning, then they should also take the responsibility for the defeat,” added Khadse.
Speaking on the Cabinet expansion, Thorat said that talks were going on and a decision on the allocation of portfolios may be taken on Monday. Thorat also wished that Former Chief Ministers Prithviraj Chavan and Ashok Chavan would contribute more to the state. But he added that the final decision would be taken by the party high command.
