Setback comes to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party in Rayalaseema, after former Hindupur MLA Abdul Gani joined Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party. This comes just after former TDP leader defected to the YSRCP. Abdul Gani alleged that Chandrababu Naidu hasn’t done anything for minorities, and accused the party of not giving enough him respect despite his service to the party and him sacrificing the seat.

K Chandrasekhar Rao’s Telangana Rashtra Samithi is set to come first according to most exit polls, with a tally that may come close to halfway mark if not past it. Telangana on Friday witnessed an around 70% voting in the assembly elections,which ended largely peacefully, though there were some reports of people complaining about their names missing from the voters’ list as well as of clashes.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that if the BJP comes to power in Telangana, it would rename Karimnagar district to ‘Karipuram’. He also reiterated his earlier claim that the BJP will rename Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar. While campaigning in Telangana, Yogi had said that if BJP comes to power AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi will flee Hyderabad like Nizam was forced to flee. However, the statement is factually incorrect as the Nizam did not flee Hyderabad after surrendering to the Indian union.
