A Delhi court on Tuesday framed charges of criminal conspiracy against former AIADMK leader T T V Dhinakaran in a case related to the alleged bribery of Election Commission officials to get the two leaves party symbol. The court framed charges against Dhinakaran for the alleged offences punishable under sections 120B. The court fixed December 17 for commencing the trial by recording evidence in the case

South Connect: 2 Congress youth workers hacked to death, State observe shutdown

South Connect: Kerala – Two Youth Congress workers were hacked to death near Periya in the Kasargod district of Kerala. Following the incident, the United Democratic Front, which alleges CPI (M) to be behind the murders, has called for a dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district. According to a report by Manoramaonline, the deceased has been identified as Kripesh and Sarath Lal. The reports state that the two Youth Congress members were returning after attending an event when a gang of three men followed them on motorcycles and later attacked them. Congress president Rahul Gandhi had also condemned the murder. While the state Congress president Mullapally Ramachandran alleged that CPI-M workers were involved in the murder, the Left party, has denied any involvement.

South Connect: Rebel congress MLAs return to Bengaluru, claims it was ‘miscommunication’

Putting an end to the political crisis in Karnataka, five rebel MLAs returned back to Bengaluru last night. At least three MLAs have talked to the media and cleared the air over their absence. Talking to ANI Karnataka Congress MLA Mahesh Kumathalli said that he had small issues with Congress leaders and clarified that there was some miscommunication. Mahesh told the news agency that he was unhappy with some party decisions and has added that he had to return back because of the upcoming budget sessions. Another disgruntled Karnataka Congress MLA Umesh Jadhav also accepted that he had small issues with party leaders in his constituency.

South Connect: KCR to appeal to voters to support Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to make an appeal to the people of Andhra Pradesh to back YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy in the upcoming Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in the state, in exchange for the latter’s support to the Federal Front. Last month, in a major meeting, KCR deputed his son KT Rama Rao to meet with Jagan. The political leaders in both parties hope that with YRSCP and TRS predicted to win a large chunk of the 25 seats in Andhra Pradesh and 17 seats in Telangana respectively, Jagan joining hands with KCR for the Federal Front could make it formidable, or least give the front significant bargaining power.
