1. Karnataka:
Days after Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy cried in the party meeting, a senior Congressman said some of the leaders from the party are tormenting the CM. Kumaraswamy had said that holding on to the coalition is like drinking poison. However, he has retracted his statement now saying his speech was misreported and the coalition is strong. This incident had also prompted a response from finance minister Arun Jaitley. He tweeted, “Listening to these statements of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, my memory took me back to the tragedy era of Hindi cinema. However, the newly appointed KPCC Chief Dinesh gundu Rao hit back at him saying Jaitley should first look into bjp’s effort of stitching an unholy alliance. It has been Barely 50 days since the Congress-JDS post-poll alliance formed the government in Karnataka and the cracks are becoming more apparent. Now people are wondering whether this will repeat on the national level if the opposition coalition comes to power.

South Connect: 40 days and still no cabinet in Telangana: questions Congress

The Telangana Congress on Sunday questioned the delay in forming the state cabinet by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, Congress leader Venkataramana Reddy pointed out that it had been 40 days since the results of the election were announced in December, but the cabinet was yet to be formed. TRS had swept the polls held on December 7, winning 88 out of the 119-seat Assembly in the state. The Congress leader demanded that the cabinet expansion take place soon, and pointed out that there was barely a month or two remaining, before the model code of conduct would be imposed in the state again, for the Lok Sabha elections. He also said it was affecting the everyday functioning of the state government as well.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is one of the prominent regional leaders who will be skipping the mega anti-BJP rally in Kolkata organized by his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee, as the Congress was also invited to the event. On Friday TRS chief called up Mamata Banerjee and explained to her that he would not share the stage with Congress leaders. He also stated that the first Assembly session of his state was presently underway. KCR has floated the idea of a non-Congress and Non-BJP Federal Front and said that a consortium of regional parties would emerge in the country soon.

Karnataka’s ruling Congress-JD(S) coalition and the opposition BJP traded MLA poaching charges on Monday, and the drama shows little sign of abating. First, a top Karnataka minister levelled horsetrading charges on the BJP, saying three Congress MLAs were in a Mumbai hotel with leaders from the saffron party. Then BS Yeddyurappa, the BJP’s Karnataka unit chief, accused Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy of trying to lure his party’s MLAs using “power and money”. The BJP’s MLAs are currently staying in a hotel in Gurgaon, Haryana. Kumaraswamy says there’s no question of instability in his government. However, Karnataka MLAs are currently spread out across three states.. Maharashtra, Haryana and their own.
