Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “Hindus are very peace-loving and do not believe in Love Jihad”

New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Hindus do not participate in riots, nor do they believe in Jihad. He said calling Hindus “rioters” is wrong.

In an interview with NDTV, he said, “I am against those who indulge in riots and generally Hindus do not participate in riots. Hindus as a community do not believe in Jihad.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on November 25 said that the Narendra Modi government in Gujarat established peace in the state and “taught a lesson” to the anti-social elements or rioters in 2002.

According to the Union Home Minister, earlier incidents of riots and violence were common in Gujarat as the Congress party encouraged it.

On this Himanta Biswa Sarma said Shah’s statement on the 2002 riots is ‘factual’. He said, “After 2002, the Gujarat government brought peace in the state. Took several actions to keep. There is permanent peace in Gujarat. Now there is no curfew.”

He added, “Gujarat has seen unprecedented development after the 2002 Godhra riots as the Gujarat government has dealt with communal elements firmly.”

Speaking of the Godhra incident, Himanta said, “Judiciary will decide what happened in Godhra in Gujarat, I have nothing to do. I am talking about the Hindu community. The Hindu community is very peace-loving. No Hindu believes in Jihad.”

Even in Aaftab Poonawala’s polygraph test, it is said that he revealed his actions will take him to Jannat. There are reports on it,” Sarma said.

“For any Left-leaning person, it is a communal remark. But I said this in national sentiment,” he said
