At least 89 bodies were recovered off Mauritania’s coast this week after a migrant boat capsized, according to the country’s state news agency and a fishing association leader. The boat, carrying 170 people bound for Europe via the deadly Atlantic migration route to the Canary Islands, saw nine survivors rescued, including a five-year-old girl.
