“I Stand With My Party Regarding Farmers Law”: MP Kangana Ranaut

The opposition Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), who are eying to end the decade-old BJP rule in the state, slammed Kangana Ranaut and vowed that “these black laws will (never be brought back now)… no matter how hard Modi and his MPs try.” After a massive backlash, the MP said she regrets her fresh comment on the three farm laws.

Adding to the list of controversial statements, actor and  MP from the Mandi seat Kangana Ranaut has landed herself and the BJP in new trouble.

Days after the BJP issued an official statement asking Kangana Ranaut to refrain from making controversial statements and making it clear that she is not authorized to speak on policy issues, The Padma Shri awardee on Tuesday said: The three farm laws – rolled back by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government in November 2021 after massive protests – “should be brought back… (and) farmers themselves should demand it.”

The saffron party quickly distanced itself from the comments, saying that the remarks do not represent the party’s views, and clarifying that they are Ms Ranaut’s “personal statement.”
Responding to the party’s statement, Ranaut said: “Absolutely, my views on Farmers Laws are personal, and they don’t represent the party’s stand on those Bills. Thanks.”

“Many people are upset and disappointed by my remarks. When the three farmers laws were proposed, a lot of us supported it. But with a lot of sensitivity and sympathy, our PM repealed these laws. It’s the responsibility of all the party workers to treat his words with dignity. I also have to keep in mind that I am no longer just an actor but also a BJP member. My opinions can’t be personal, they have to reflect the party’s stand,” Ranaut said in a video message posted on microblogging site X.

“I regret if I have disappointed anyone with my words or opinions. I take my words back,” she added. Ranaut posted the video with the caption, “I stand with my party regarding Farmers Law. Jai Hind”

Derogatory Remarks Against Rahul Gandhi:  Reacting to Rahul Gandhi’s demand for caste based census, Ranaut said: “You know nothing of your own caste, your grandfather is Muslim, grandmother Parsi, mummy Christian, and it feels like someone tempered pasta with curry leaves to make rice and lentils, but he wants to know everyone’s caste.”
