Mumbai : Shehal Shah may replace Sunil Raut from Borivali Constituency in Upcoming elections from BJP

Snehal Amrutlal Shah, joint secretary of the BJP’s Maharashtra Jain Cell and a prominent social worker from the Gujarati Jain community, is being speculated as a potential candidate for the Borivali Assembly seat. Currently, Sunil Rane holds the position of MLA for the Borivali constituency. However, internal competition within the BJP has intensified, with several party leaders vying for the seat. Alongside Shah, figures like Gopal Shetty, Shivanand Shetty, and Sharad Satam are reportedly showing interest in contesting the seat.

Shah is emerging as a fresh face for the BJP in the area, having garnered significant backing from various community groups, including Adivasi, Buddhist, Jain, Gujarati, Dalit, and North Indian communities. Support letters endorsing Shah’s candidacy have been sent to party leadership, expressing confidence in his capabilities. Numerous socio-religious organizations and institutions, such as Shree Mumbai Jain Sangh Sanghatan, Shree 27 Jain Sangh, Shri Brahmin Social Group, Shri Anavil Kelavani Mandal, Yogi Divine Society, Baudhh Rahivasi Sansar Kendra, Eksar Masjid Trust, Shabulsha Baba Dargah Trust, Dhodiya Adivasi Janjagruti Samaj Seva Trust, and Trinity Mitra Mandal, have recommended Shah for the Borivali seat.

Shah gained considerable recognition during the COVID-19 pandemic for his efforts in aiding the underprivileged. Additionally, he oversees several cow shelters and has earned respect across different communities, including Marathi, Adivasi, and North Indian groups, despite his Gujarati Jain background. This widespread support has sparked discussions within political circles, suggesting that the BJP may consider Shah as their candidate for the Borivali constituency.
