Fresh Bomb Threats To Over 250 Flights In India

In the past two weeks, more than 250 flights in India have been receiving bomb threats. According to reports on Thursday alone, 25 Akasa Air flights, 20 each from Air India, IndiGo, and Vistara, and five each from SpiceJet and Alliance Air, got the bomb threats.

The majority of these threats originated from social media. They later turned out to be false alarms, causing major disruptions and inconvenience to hundreds of passengers. These threats caused a security headache for paramilitary personnel and aviation authorities.

The affected flights include services from Akasa Air, Air India, IndiGo and Vistara, operating from Delhi and elsewhere across the country to various domestic and international destinations.

Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu stated that those behind these hoaxes would face stricter penalties. These penalties include being added to the no-fly list.

Investigations are ongoing, with authorities considering whether the threats are part of a larger conspiracy. Despite the challenges, the minister assured the public that aviation security remains a top priority.

The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) held a meeting with CEOs and representatives of airlines in Delhi over the issue on October 19.
