New Delhi| Union home minister Amit Shah, who has been involved in steering center’s strategy to tackle Covid-19 amid the concerning situation in the national capital, chaired an all-party meeting on Monday shortly after which he paid a surprise visit to Lok Nayak Jay Prakash Narayan LNJP hospital in Delhi. After his visit, Shah ordered installing of CCTV cameras in COVID-19 wards of Delhi government-run hospitals.
To discuss the strategy for Delhi, where the coronavirus cases have surged to 42,829, the Union home minister carried meetings for the second consecutive day. Delhi has the highest coronavirus cases across the country after Maharashtra and Tamilnadu.
According to Delhi’s health bulletin, while 1,647 fresh cases have been reported, the death toll mounted to 1,400 with 73 more fatalities.
For the doctors and nurses engaged in the service of humanity through the fight against coronavirus, Shah suggested psychological counseling to help them cope up with the pressure.

He also suggested setting up alternative canteens for an uninterrupted supply of food to the patients.
Earlier on Sunday, Amit Shah, hours after the high-level meetings with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and L-G Anil Baijal ordered immediate transfers of four IAS officers to the Delhi government and attachment of another two from the Centre to assist the national capital in fight against coronavirus.
After the meetings, Shah also said the centre will provide 500 railway coaches to Delhi in view of the storage of beds for COVID-19 patients in the state. The coaches will add 8,000 beds to the existing strength of beds in Delhi and will have all the facilities and equipment to treat the coronavirus patients.
In a series of decisions taken by the Centre, a key focus area will be the containment zones, where testing will be made available in polling booths in the next week. House to house surveys will also be conducted in these high-risk areas to improve contact tracing and the report will be submitted in a week.
Centre also made it compulsory to download Aarogya Setu App in phones of all residents in these containment zones to improve contact tracing.
Apart from that, Centre has also said that 60% of all beds in private hospitals will be made available at reduced rates. A committee headed by Dr VK Paul will look at the issue of treatment rates and price of testing in private hospitals and will submit its report by Monday.
