Health Ministry confirms the total number of positive cases in India is now at 96169, including 56316 active cases, 36824 cured cases, and 3029 deaths
NEW DELHI| India crosses 90,000 marks of positive COVID-9 cases. India announced the extension of nationwide lockdown till 31 May. Highest ever spike on Sunday in the COVID-19 cases were seen after which government announces the state government should decide accordingly Red, Orange and Green areas.
Amazon, Flipkart and other e-commerce firms have permission to distribute the non-essential items as well.
Globally the death rate is 316,711 even as infections approached 4,804,846 cases. France has reported 483 new coronavirus deaths on Sunday, bringing the total to 28,108, as the country eases out of a two-month lockdown. Japan’s economy slipped into recession for the first time in 4.5 years, GDP data showed on Monday. China reported seven new confirmed coronavirus cases for May 17.
The United States has recorded 820 new coronavirus deaths in 24 hours. Death toll in the US is now about to cross the 90,000-mark while total coronavirus cases in the country have 47,00,000

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal today hold a video conference to address the state. Kejriwal said, “10,054 cases have been reported in Delhi till date. 4,485 persons have been cured/discharged and 160 people have died due to COVID-19 till now.”
Kejriwal further added, “Barbershops, spas and saloons to remain closed for now. Stepping out of homes between 7 pm to 7 am, except for essential services will be prohibited. Taxis & cabs will be allowed but only 2 passengers at a time in a car.” He also said, “Construction activities are allowed in the national capital now but only with labourers who are in Delhi right now.”
On transport, Kejriwal said, “Buses are allowed to run but with only 20 passengers at a time. Passengers will be screened before he/she boards the bus. Transport Dept will ensure that social distancing norms are followed at all bus-stops and inside the bus.”
Delhi’s CM also said, “Carpooling or car-sharing will not be allowed for aggregators. Auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws & cycle-rickshaws will be allowed but only with 1 passenger. For two-wheelers, the pillion rider will not be allowed. There will be no activity allowed in containment zones.”
