Maharashtra: Amit Shah and Uddhav Thackeray to take a final call on “50:50” formula

“BJP president Amit Shah and ShivSena chief Uddhav Thackeray will take the final decision on forming the government,” Said Chandrakant Patil.

Mumbai| It has been 6 days since the results of Maharashtra Assembly Elections came out. The BJP got 105 seats and the Shiv Sena got 56 seats which is more than the 145-seat figure required for the majority. However, both the parties are still in a tussle over the post of Chief Minister. ShivSena maintains its 50-50 formula for CM post. On the other hand, the BJP is clearly in denial.

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Chandrakant Patil has said in a statement that his party’s national president Amit Shah and ShivSena chief Uddhav Thackeray will take the final decision on forming the government.
Chandrakant Patil said on Tuesday that the party’s national president Amit Shah and ShivSena chief Uddhav Thackeray will take a final call on the ’50: 50′ formula of the alliance for the formation of the next government in Maharashtra.

On the other hand, according to BJP sources, before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, both the parties had agreed on the “50:50” formula of ‘equal distribution of power and not on the post of Chief Minister’.

Indeed, ever since the results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections were announced on the 24th of this month, ShivSena chief Uddhav Thackeray has been claiming that Shah and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had agreed to a 50:50 formula of power partnership before the Lok Sabha elections.

At the same time, according to the ShivSena sources, there was an agreement between the two parties for the rotational chief minister in the formula. However, Fadnavis on Tuesday denied that the ShivSena had ever been promised the post of Chief Minister for two and a half years under the formula. He also said that he will be the Chief Minister of the state for the next five years.
