India-Pakistan face-off at UNGA as Modi, Imran Khan set to address the session

India-Pakistan are set for a face-off as PM Modi will speak at the UNGA at 7.30 pm. Shortly after that Pakistan PM Imran Khan will address the session.

 

New York| The two neighbouring countries who are fighting with each other India-Pakistan are set for a big face-off on the foreign soil. On Friday, Prime Ministers of both the nations will be facing off at the UNGA session in New York. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at 7.30 pm. Shortly after the PM Modi’s speech, Pakistan PM Imran Khan will address the session.

In his speech, Imran Khan is expected to raise the Kashmir issue once again. Pakistan has been trying to internationalise the Kashmir issue. However, India has clarified that the issue is internal matter of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi can also warn Pakistan against terrorism from this global platform.

This will be the second speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at UNGA. Earlier in 2014, he addressed the session. In the United Nations, India has always been vocal on different topics. Former Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj gave a stern warning to Pakistan on the Kashmir issue at the 71st session of the UN General Assembly in September 2016. Opposition party leaders also praised Sushma Swaraj.

PM Modi is on a tour of America from 21 September. He first arrived in Houston and addressed the Indian community at the Howdy Modi program. In this program, US President Donald Trump also shared the stage with PM Modi. After Houston, PM Modi arrived in New York where he is attending several bilateral meetings. PM Modi has met US President Donald Trump twice during his visit.
