New Delhi | Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hit out at Congress party on Sunday and said that the Gandhi family is not ready to “lose control” of power.
Himanta Biswa Sarma is the convenor of the BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA). He responded to Congress’ decision yesterday to re-appoint Sonia Gandhi as the interim chief of the party.
Former Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi had resigned two days after massive defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, taking “moral responsibility” for the loss. Since then, speculations arose on who will be the next Congress chief, especially after Rahul Gandhi had announced that the new chief will be a “Non-Gandhi”.

“Everything which was enacted by Rahul Gandhi was a big drama. Gandhi family don’t want to part with the power in the Congress party. They want to retain control in the Congress party as Private Limited Company,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
“I am sure a day will come when there will be no stakeholders, no shareholders and only Gandhi will remain in the Congress party”, he said.
He further said that people are now getting fed up by the Congress.
“We are getting everyday request after request that people want to join BJP. Sooner or later, Congress will be a party only with Gandhi without any worker, without any office bearer,” he said.
