“I’m Feeling The Same Pain That Countrymen Have Endured For Some Time”: PM Modi

“There is an invisible enemy in front of us. We have lost many of our close ones. I am feeling the same pain that the countrymen have endured for some time,” PM Modi said.

 

PM Narendra Modi on Friday started distributing the 8th instalment under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme. PM Modi himself transferred the money to the account of many farmers through video conferencing. According to the information, Rs 2000 will be transferred to 9.5 crore farmers as the 8th instalment. The Central Government will spend 19 thousand crores on this. The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme was announced in the Interim Budget in 2019. The scheme came into effect from December 2018.

PM Modi talks to farmers

After transferring the eighth instalment, PM Narendra Modi interacted with farmers across the country through video conferencing. PM Modi interacted with Arvind Nishad, a farmer from Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. After this, the farmers of Andaman and Nicobar, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya got to know about their farming experience. PM Modi also appreciated the efforts being made by these farmers to promote agriculture.

What did the Prime Minister say?

“The farmers of Bengal have started getting the benefit of the facility of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi for the first time. Today, the first instalment has reached the lakhs of farmers of Bengal. As the names of the farmers from the state are received by the central government, the number of beneficiary farmers will increase further,” PM Modi said.

He further said that so far about 1 lakh 35 thousand crores rupees have been transferred to about 11 crore farmers of the country. PM Modi then also lauded that the money transfer was not hindered even during the pandemic. “There is an invisible enemy in front of us. We have lost many of our close ones. I am feeling the same pain that the countrymen have endured for some time,” PM Modi said.

He however said that in this time of crisis, some people are engaged in hoarding and black marketing of medicines and essential commodities due to their vested interests. “I would urge the State Governments to take strict action against such people. This act is against humanity,” he said.

He also appealed to people to get the vaccines whenever their turn comes.

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi

Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, the central government gives Rs 6,000 every year to each farming family. This amount is given in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000. After every 4 months, this honour amount is directly transferred to the bank account of the farmers. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, under this scheme, to date, 1.16 lakh crore rupees have been disbursed to the beneficiary farmer families. Earlier on 25 December 2020, the 7th instalment was transferred to about 9 crore farmers.
