Mumbai | Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday invited opposition leaders of both the houses of Maharashtra assembly for a meeting in the Vidhan Sabha to discuss the ongoing Maratha reservation protest.
After the CM Fadnavis’s meeting with BJP MLA’s and Ministers, Cabinet Minister Chandrakant Patil while speaking to media said, “Law and order in the state due to Maratha Reservation should be discussed by all parties. So, Chief Minister Fadnavis has invited party leaders of both houses for a meeting in Vidhan Sabha on Saturday.”
After a statewide agitation of the Maratha community demanding reservation in government jobs and education, CM Fadnavis called for meeting with BJP ministers and party legislators from the Maratha community to discuss the issue.
The Maratha Reservation protest which created headlines across the nation for its peaceful protest had suddenly took a violent turn in the state of Maharashtra. Violence was been witnessed across various parts of the state along with state capital Mumbai as the group has called for a day-long strike on Wednesday. One Constable died while 9 other police personnel were injured during the clash between police and protestors. Several vehicles were put on fire in the Aurangabad and the neighbouring cities in Maharashtra. The agitation took a violent turn after Kakasaheb Shinde a 27-year-old jumped off a bridge over Godavari river in Aurangabad.
