LUCKNOW: After nearly 20 months Sonia Gandhi visited her parliamentary constituency of Rae Bareli on Tuesday evening to inaugurate the IMA building in Nehru Nagar. Her visit was earlier scheduled for February but was later cancelled due to certain unavoidable reasons.
The IMA officials informed her that the construction of the building was completed a year ago to provide free health care to the poor patients.
Sonia Gandhi who is dealing with her health issue since last few months donated Rs. 10 lakh in 2015-16 from her MPLAD fund for construction of this building. Another Rs. 10 lakh has been granted for the further construction of the building.
The ground floor of the two-storey building has since been completed and was on Tuesday inaugurated by her, an IMA official told IANS.
Further, on her Rae Bareli visit, Sonia Gandhi along with Congress President Rahul Gandhi will meet the people of the Rae Bareli as well as inaugurate the Passport Seva Kendra at the chief post office on Wednesday.
