” I never felt good quitting the party. “It didn’t take long to realise that. Then I told myself, I should do as much as I can for my parent party.”
Congress just got some good news as Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely rejoined the party today. Lovely who has quit Congress nine months ago said he was an “ideological misfit” in BJP.
Lovely has joined the party ahead of the crucial civic elections in the state. Lovely was a key minister in the Sheila Dikshit-led government in Delhi. He earlier met Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken at formers residence.
It is believed that after joining BJP for many months, there was no major responsibility given to him in the party. Arvinder Singh Lovely’s return can prove to be a good news for Congress party which is currently marginalized in Delhi. According to sources, Lovely was a prey to internal factionalism in the BJP.
After the disqualification of 20 Aam Aadmi Party MLAs Arvinder Singh’s return in the Congress party is expected to benefit the party in the upcoming elections.
Addressing the Media Lovely said, “I was ideologically misfit” in the BJP. I realised this from the next day I joined the party,”
Avrinder’s rejoining announcement was made by Ajay Maken and PC Chacko who is former Kerela MP and in charge of AICC Delhi unit.
He also added that he took the decision to quit the Congress and join the BJP with a “lot of pain”. I never felt good quitting the party. “It didn’t take long to realise that. Then I told myself, I should do as much as I can for my parent party.”
Addressing the Media to announce Lovely’s return today, senior party leader Ajay Maken said, “He wants to make up for lost time. I accept that there were communication gaps before MCD election. I should have spoken to him. But now we have put aside our differences and promised to work together for the growth of the party.”
Avrinder Singh Lovely walked out of the Congress and joined the rival party last year in April. He joined BJP in the presence of party president Amit Shah.
Lovely, a distinguished Sikh face in the Delhi can help Congress in the upcoming civic elections. At present, there are no Party MLAs in the Delhi Assembly.
