New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Tokyo for a two-day visit, today morning interacted with children waiting to welcome him.
“Welcome to Japan! May I have your signature please?”, Ritsuki Kobayashi asked PM Modi in Hindi.
Impressed by his fluency, the exhilarated PM said, “Waah! Where did you learn Hindi from?… You know it pretty well?”
“…Can’t speak Hindi much, but I understand…PM read my message, and I also got his signature, so I am very happy…,” an elated Ritsuki Kobayashi said after his interaction with PM Modi.
Children were also spotted holding “Welcome” posters in various Indian regional languages, dressed in traditional attire awaiting PM Modi’s visit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted warmly by the Indian community in Japan during his two-day visit to Tokyo to attend the Quad Summit on May 24 at the request of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
“Landed in Tokyo. Will be taking part in various programmes during this visit including the Quad Summit, meeting fellow Quad leaders, interacting with Japanese business leaders and the vibrant Indian diaspora,” PM Modi said in a tweet.
