Karnataka Crisis: “Forcibly sending me to Bengaluru,” DK Shivakumar says after release

Shivakumar said, “I am still confident that all of them will come back. Congress-JD(S) govt which is there will be safe.

 

Mumbai| Hours after detaining him, the Mumbai Police released Karnataka Congress leader DK Shivakumar. The police also released Milind Deora, Naseem Khan and other Congress workers who were detained. The police will take Shivakumar to the airport. The police will be sending him to Bengaluru by Air India flight.

After detaining him outside the gate of Powai Hotel, the Mumbai police took him to Kalina guesthouse. He was kept there for almost two hours before being released.

Talking to reporters, Shivakumar said that he still believes Congress MLAs camped in the hotel will come back. He also expressed confidence that no one will leave the party. Shivakumar said, “I am still confident that all of them will come back. Congress-JD(S) govt which is there will be safe. None of them is leaving the party.” He further said that he is forcibly being sent to Bengaluru.

Former Mumbai Congress Chief Milind Deora said that the police detained them without any provocation. He said that the leaders neither protested nor mobilized their workers. Deora slammed state govt calling it state-imposed intimidation.

He further said it is a black day for Mumbai and Democracy.
