New Delhi | Congress President Rahul Gandhi yesterday during his meeting with Youth Congress leader stayed firm on his resignation however he told the leaders that even after his resignation, none of the Chief Minister or senior leader realised the accountability towards the party.
According to sources, Gandhi met the Youth Congress leaders at his residence and said that he won’t reconsider his resignation offer but will play an active role in the party. Gandhi during the meeting said that he is unhappy that despite his resignation offer some chief ministers, general secretaries, in-charge and senior leaders of party-ruled states did not realize their responsibilities.
The statement by the Congress party comes after the May 25 meeting of the Congress working committee where he questioned Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram’s role in the Lok Sabha election.
Gandhi has also informed the Youth Congress leader that there should be a democratic process in the election of the new president so he has opted out of the entire process. He said, “I will not be the president now … there should be a democratic process in the party. Someone should be given responsibility. I have also decided to separate myself from the process of election of the new president. I will be active in the party and will continue fighting for the youth.”
