After poll defeat, Rahul Gandhi still believes ‘Rafale Deal’ as scam

New Delhi | Congress President Rahul Gandhi today repeating his earlier view on the Indo-France Rafale Fighter jet deal said that he still be belives Rafale was a scam.

Responding to reporters question on his reaction to President Kovind address to the Parliament’s joint session, the Congress President said,” My Stand still remains the same, theft occurred in the Rafale deal.”

President Kovind today while addressing the joint session of Parliament said, My government, the Army and the Armed forces are speeding up the modernisation work. India is going to get the first ‘Rafale’ fighter aircraft an Apache helicopter in the near future.”

Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party had been extensively criticising the role of Narendra Modi government in the Indo-France Rafale Fighter Jet Deal. Gandhi even coined a slogan called ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’ alleging PM Modi involvement in the Rafale deal.

Gandhi had claimed that the Rafale aircraft was supposed to be bought from French company Dassault at Rs 526 crore for which eight years of negotiations happened during UPA rule. However, when the new government took over, the prime minister himself held parallel negotiations, he claimed, adding, instead of paying Rs 526 crore for each aircraft, the government agreed to pay Rs 1,600 crore.

He went on to say that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and businessman Anil Ambani would land in jail if the documents of parallel negotiations with the French government by the PMO become part of an inquiry into the Rafale deal.
