Lalu Yadav has been jailed for seven times since surrendering in the fodder scam case in July 1997
Ranchi’s CBI court has sentenced RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav terming him three-and-a-half-year imprisonment in the popularized fodder scam case. The court also imposed him with a penalty of Rs five lakh. The special court of CBI today announced Lalu Yadav’s punishment by video conferencing at four o’clock in the evening. Now he will have to apply before High Court to get bail. He was convicted on December 23 and was sent to Ranchi’s Birsa Munda jail.
Other accused in the case Mahendra, Rajaram, Sunil Kumar Sinha and Sushil Kumar, Phulchand, Mahesh are also awarded three-and-a-half-year jail term and Rs.5 lakh fine. Sunil Gandhi, Tripurari, Ajay Agarwal, Gopinath and Jagadish Sharma have sentenced 7 years of imprisonment and Rs 10 Lakh as fine.
Soon after the court announced the verdict on Lalu Prasad Yadav, there was a tweet from Lalu Yadav’s official Twitter account. It stated that rather than practising BJP’s Simple Rule – “Follow us or We Will Fix you”. I will die happily fixing myself for Social justice, harmony & equality

The fodder scam case involves an illegal withdrawal of Rs 89 lakhs and 27 thousand rupees from the Deoghar treasury, in which Ranchi Court pronounced sentence to 16 convicts, including former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.
This is not the first time that he has been sent to jail. Lalu Yadav has been jailed for seven times since surrendering in the fodder scam case in July 1997.He has spent more than 375 days in jail till now. He has already been banned from contesting elections. Lalu Prasad Yadav is under trial for 6 different cases regarding the fodder scam.
