Farmers’ Protest Day 16: More Farmers From Punjab To Join Agitation, Railways To State Cancelled

The Centre has given clear signals to the farmers that withdrawal of agricultural laws is difficult. If there is any concern, the government is always ready for talks.

 

Today is the 16th day of the farmers’ agitation against the new agricultural laws. Farmer leader Buta Singh said on Thursday that no decision has been taken yet to repeal the law, so they will soon announce a date for stopping trains. Farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal said that agriculture is a state subject, so how can the Center bring legislation on it? Meanwhile the farmers’ movement is intensifying. From Amritsar, farmers of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Samiti left for Delhi in 700 tractor-trolleys.

 

Modi’s appeals farmers to listen to his ministers

Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal held a press conference on Thursday to discuss the demands of farmers. Modi shared the video on social media and said that people must listen to them.

On the other hand, threat of Covid-19 is also looming over the protest. Two IPS officers who were on duty on the Singhu border have tested positive for Covid-19. These include a DCP and an additional DCP. They have been isolated at home.

Railways cancelled 4 trains going to Punjab

Due to the farmers’ movement, the railways have decided to cancel trains. Today Sealdah-Amritsar and Dibrugarh-Amritsar trains have been cancelled. On December 13, Amritsar-Sealdah and Amritsar-Dibrugarh trains are cancelled.

Farmer leader Shivkumar Kakka was asked by when the solution to stand off is expected. To which he replied and said, “God knows when this will happen. We are facing a lot of problems due to winter and corona, but will continue the agitation till the demands are met.”

 

Agriculture Minister said – Government ready for amendments, farmers are not able to decide

Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that we had several rounds of talks with farmers. Every question was answered in writing, but the farmers are still unable to take a decision and this is a matter of concern.
