According to reports, Pakistan violated ceasefire early Thursday morning along the Line of Control (LOC) in Kamal Koot area of Uri sector in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla District. It is reported that the Pakistani side fired automatic weapons and mortars in the area.
Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistan continued with heavy shelling in Jammu and Kashmir’s Hiranagar sector killing one and injuring two. Wednesday was the ninth day of continuous firing and shelling by Pakistan along the international border and LoC in Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Deputy High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah has been summoned by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) over ‘deliberate’ targeting of the civilians. A strong protest was lodged over the killing of a seven-month-old infant in unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bhimber sector. “Shah was summoned today and strong protest was lodged at the loss of life of a seven-month-old infant in unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan forces on May 21,” the MEA had said.
Over 40,000 border villagers have been forced to migrate from their homes due to the targetted firing by Pakistan.
