School bus attacked by stone-pelters in J&K, 2 students injured

Stone-pelters in Jammu and Kashmir today targeted a school bus in the Kanipora village of Shopian injuring two students with one student of Class II even getting his head injured and sending the rest into shock.

The bus belonged to Rainbow International School and there were some 50 children on the bus, some as young as four years old. The injured students were rushed to SKIMS Hospital. An FIR has since been filed.

“My son has been injured in stone pelting, this is against humanity. This could have been anyone’s child,” said the father of the students who suffered a head injury, to which Shailendra Kumar, senior superintendent of police said, “The area has been sanitised, search for stone pelters is underway and they will be arrested soon.”

Taking to Twitter, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti expressed “shock and anger”.

Earlier this month, two buses carrying tourists from Indonesia were pelted with stones near Dal Lake. Prompt action by houseboat owners saved them.
