The eight-year-old girl from Kathua was kidnapped on January 10. Six days later her body was found near the jungle in rasana village of Kathua. The crime branch investigation found that the girl was sedated, gang-raped and then murdered by the accused. The accused in the case include two minors, an ex-bureaucrat and local police officers.
So far, two FIRs have been registered in the case. One against the accused and the other against the lawyers of Jammu-Kashmir bar association who stalled the police from filing the charge sheet in the court.
The BJP ministers who defended the accused submitted their resignation two days ago following the nation-wide uproar.
