Hyderabad Police registered a case against Telangana BJP MLA Raja Singh for allegedly hurting the religious beliefs.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police registered a case against Telangana BJP MLA Raja Singh for allegedly hurting the religious beliefs of a particular community through his defamatory remarks.

The BJP legislator from Goshamahal is accused of hurting religious sentiments while referring to the Ajmer Sharif dargah of Rajasthan during a speech.

The video had gone viral on Monday, police said. The case was registered based on the complaint filed by Hyderabad resident Mohammed Ali. Ali is a businessman by profession.

According to the police, the authenticity of the video is yet to be confirmed.

The date and time of the video are also not confirmed.

However, this is not the first time Singh has indulged in communal speeches, he was earlier booked in April this year for his provocative speech “Ram Navmi” processions.

The BJP leader was booked under Sections 153A (promoting enmity among people on grounds of religion), and 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs.)

In 2020, Facebook banned Raja Singh from the platform and tagged him as a ‘dangerous individual’.

“We have banned Raja Singh from Facebook for violating our policy prohibiting those that promote or engage in violence and hate from having a presence on our platform. The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove his account,” a Facebook spokesperson had said.

Even in 2017, the Golconda police station registered a case against the Goshamahal legislator, stating that he made “derogatory and hate” speeches against Muslims and promoted enmity between Hindus and Muslims. Singh’s speeches between July 2015 to December 15, 2017, which were available on social media, were also presented as evidence.
