Rs. 20 crores seized from TMC Minister’s House, TMC claims it as BJP’s plot against them.
Mumbai: On Friday, the Enforcement Directorate raided the residence of an associate of West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee and seized Rs. 20 Crores cash from there. The raid was done in relation to an alleged teacher recruitment scam at Arpita Mukherjee’s place. The agency suspects that the money found was from the Scam.
The search team has also taken the bank officials with them to count the money recovered with the counting machines. Rs. 2000 and Rs. 500 notes are found, and more than 20 mobile phones were also recovered from the premises of Arpita Mukherjee, the purpose and use of which are being determined in the probe.

Along with Chatterjee, the ED also conducted searches on MLA Manik Bhattacharya, Minister of State for Education Paresh C. Adhikary, and other individuals. When the alleged illegal appointments were allegedly made in government-run and aided schools by West Bengal School Service Commission, Partha Chatterjee—who is currently the minister for industries and commerce—was the minister of education (WBSSC).
According to TMC it’s a plot done by BJP to harass its rival. West Bengal Transport Minister Firhad Hakim said, “This raid by ED, a day after the spectacular Martyrs’ Day rally that created ripples all over the country, is nothing but an attempt to harass and intimidate leaders of the TMC.”
However, the BJP said that after assuming office, the Trinamool has “supported large-scale abnormalities” in the selection of teachers for the elementary, upper primary, and secondary levels.
