According to NIRF data, the average starting salary for engineering graduates in India increased by 30 percent over the last five years.

Mumbai: The average starting monthly salary of an engineer in India has increased by 30% over the last five years. It was Rs.25,000 in 2016-’17 and went up to Rs.33,000 in 2020-’21 showed an explicit Indian Express analysis of the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) reports. The gap between entry-level engineers saw a 60% increase, from Rs 9.5 lakh to Rs. 15 lakhs per year – in the same period (from 2016-’17 to 2020-’21), the Indian Express reported.

As per the NIRF data, engineering graduates received an annual salary of Rs 3.02 lakh in 2016-’17, Rs 3.19 lakh (2017-’18), Rs 3.4 lakh (2018-’19), Rs 3.75 lakh (2019-’20), and Rs 3.98 lakh in 2020-’21.

Each year, engineering institutions that participate in the NIRF report provide information on the median salary of undergraduate and graduate students who have obtained employment through college internships over the past three years. It is one of the components of the ranking, which obtained 25 points out of a total of 500 points. The latest Engineer Ranking Report, released last week, is based on responses from 1,181 institutions.

However, the employability of engineering graduates remains a key concern. In 2020-21, only 3.41 lakh UG engineering graduates managed to secure a place on campus, compared to 3.96 lakh in 2019-2020, according to the latest available data from the All India Council Technical Education (AICTE). .

Employers often cite the quality of engineering education as the reason. A recent student assessment survey, also conducted by AICTE, found this: first-year students in major engineering majors struggle more with math than any other core subject, engineering students civil, electronics and communication students, mechanical engineering students, electrical engineering students, and computer science students with 37.48%, 38.9%, 39.48%, 40.02% and 40.12% respectively.

Uddhav Thackeray Moves SC Requesting To Halt EC’s Decision Over Sena Owner

Sakeena Sayyed
Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena faction requested SC  to stop the Election Commission from deciding on who has control of the party.

Mumbai: After the rebel Team Shinde came into power, it claimed that they are the real Shiv Sainik and the party belongs to them, Uddhav Thackeray group of the Shiv Sena has requested the Supreme Court to stop the Election Commission(EC) from taking a decision regarding who will own Shiv Sena; either Uddhav Thackeray or the current Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde. He urged the decision to be halted until the pending verdict is given on the disqualification of MPs, who had rebelled against Mr. Thackeray, the former CM of Maharashtra.

The Election Commission said that it will consider the matter only if both the Sena groups submit documentary evidence and written statements by August 8 as proof regarding who represents the Maharashtra Party. After receiving the documentary evidence from both groups, the EC will proceed further for a substantive hearing.
The Thackeray team told the Supreme Court in a petition that the Electoral Commission cannot decide which group represents the Shiv Sena until there is clarity on the disqualification of the Sena MLA rebels – who jumped from Gujarat to Assam in Goa in a political operation last month – and dethroned Mr. Thackeray.

In a letter to the constitutional body responsible for assigning party symbols and conducting elections, Team Shinde said they had the support of 40 of the 55 MLAs and 12 of the 18 Lok Sabha MPs.

The Shinde camp has previously asked the state assembly speaker, Rahul Narwekar to expel Thackeray’s Sena for disqualifying the party whip, however on the order of the apex court the speaker didn’t proceed with the plea.

Both the division were asked to consider the issues by a larger bench of the Supreme Court on Wednesday, with the case set to be heard on August 1.
