Mumbai: After more than a month, the expansion of the Maharashtra cabinet is likely to take place tomorrow, and as many as, 12 ministers, are expected to take the oath, with each region getting a minister each, according to sources.

Senior BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar, Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrakant Patil, and former water resources minister Girish Mahajan are likely to be inducted into the Shinde-Fadnavis team, sources added.

Sources further said, from the Shinde Sena, Gulab Raghunath Patil, Sada Sarvankar, and spokesperson of the Shinde faction Deepak Vasant Kesarkar are likely to take oath tomorrow.

Shiv Sena MLA Shinde and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis were sworn in as chief minister and Deputy chief minister respectively on June 30 after the resignation of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray due to a revolt in the Sena ranks.

The duo had been functioning as a two-member cabinet since then, inviting criticism from the Opposition. MR Fadnavis and Mr. Shinde visited Delhi multiple times in the recent past regarding the issue of cabinet expansion.

According to sources, Mr. Fadnavis is likely to get the Home portfolio, which he held during his first term as CM, from 2015-2020.

“The expansion of the Maharashtra cabinet will take place before you can even imagine”, Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, told the media in Delhi, responding to questions on the induction of new ministers.

But then PV Sindhu thwarted the comeback attempt and once again she stretched her lead to edge closer to winning the yellow metal.

Badminton ace PV Sindhu, on Monday, displayed a dominant show to win the women’s singles gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Sindhu defeated former CWG gold medallist Michelle Li with a scoreline of 21-15, 21-13. This was her third CWG singles medal and first gold.

Sindhu began the match with a taping on her left ankle. The Indian ace got off to a flyer in the first game but Li fought her way back to tie things up at 4-4.

The game was evenly poised for most of the time, but PV Sindhu took an a11-8 lead heading into the halfway break of the first game.

After the restart, the Indian ace scored three straight points to create pressure for Li. The Canadian ace, however, mounted a comeback to cut the deficit down to three with the score at 17-14. But Sindhu was too good for Li in the first game and bought it to a scoreline of 21-15.

The Indian olympian showed no signs of slowing down in the second game and accelerated to a 9-3 lead in quick time. While Li did show some signs of life, the Indian ace held the lead heading into the halfway point of the second game with a score of 11-6.

After the restart, the Canadian ace fought back valiantly to cut down the lead to just three after an incredible rally between the two that had 57 strokes.

But then PV Sindhu thwarted the comeback attempt and once again she stretched her lead to edge closer to winning the yellow metal.

The many unforced errors by Li during the game came back to haunt her as Sindhu took the lead to 20-13 and seven Championship points.

Soon Sindhu wrapped things up and took the game and bagged the gold medal. With this win, the Indian ace also extended her head-to-head score against Li to 9-2.
