While the vaccine trial is still under progress, political parties have already began encashing it for votes.
New Delhi| The number of coronavirus infections in the country has reached 77 lakh. Out of these 69 lakh people have recovered. Currently there are 6.94 lakh active cases. Meanwhile, there is good news about vaccine progress in the country. Bharat Biotech’s Covaxine third phase trial has been approved.
Free Vaccine Promises
While the vaccine trial is still under progress, political parties have already began encashing it for votes. BJP in its Bihar manifesto released on Thursday said that if elected to power, every resident of Bihar will get Coronavirus vaccine for free. The poll promise did not go down well with the opposition, which accused the BJP of politicising matters of public health. The opposition also demanded that the vaccine should be free for all.
On the other hand, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami also said that the Covid Vaccine will be made available free for the people of the state. Similar promise was made by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who promised free vaccine to all in the state. By-elections on 28 seats are due in Madhya Pradesh whereas Tamil Nadu will go for polling in 2021.
