During the election campaign, Owaisi fiercely targeted the grand alliance led by the RJD-Congress and accused that they ignored Seemanchal.
Patna| Defying all exit polls, The Bihar Election Result 2020 proved to be a dampener for the grand alliance. While JDU remained the party hit the most in the elections, RJD led by Tejashwi Yadav also suffered a big blow. The party, which has so far been associated with the Muslim vote bank, has received a setback by All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) of Asaduddin Owaisi’s party in Seemanchal area. Owaisi’s party has captured 5 seats in this area.
AIMIM Blocks RJD Path To Victory
AIMIM fielded 20 candidates in Bihar elections, out of which 14 candidates were in the constituency of Seemanchal. Owaisi’s party won 5 of these seats and severely damaged the RJD by cutting votes in the remaining 15 seats. AIMIM won big seats in Amaur, Kochadhaman, Bahadurganj, Baisi and Jokihat seats.
AIMIM’s bumper win in RJD stronghold
In Baisi, considered an RJD stronghold, AIMIM candidate Saeed Ruknuddin pushed RJD’s Haji Abdus Subhan to number three. BJP candidate Vinod Kumar finished second here. AIMIM chief campaigned fiercely in these areas and attacked the central government over the issue of CAA and NRC. AIMIM tasted victory for the first time in the Kishanganj by-election in 2019.
AIMIM targeted the grand alliance in the campaign
